Connecting the Pieces and Living Fulfilled

Relax book coverI have a new book coming out next week called Relax Into Inspired Action: Connect the Pieces, and Live Fulfilled. (Watch for the launch on April 2). In the book I share some stories of how people connect the pieces in their lives.

Over my years as a coach and my experience in training and development, I have witnessed and cultivated a process called connecting the pieces and living fulfilled.

During this process you learn to put together all of the pieces that make you feel alive and passionate in your life into a business or career where you make a meaningful difference and are well compensated for your contribution to this world.

My own Connecting the Pieces story:

My clients know me as “action Sheri”. I have owned my company since 2007, my books are available internationally, my podcast is global, and I work with my ideal clients every day. I take vacations (lots of vacations). I feel spiritually connected and happy. I golf. I read books. I hang out with friends. I am close to my husband and children and involved in their lives… But it wasn’t always this way. I didn’t always have it together. (And I don’t always have it together every minute of the day, now).

What drove me to carve out the life I live today? Pain.

My own world was shattered when I was 17 and I came home from school one day to find my younger brother after his suicide death. My identity was lost. I lost trust in everything (even God). It felt like I was on shaky ground all of the time. Our family was grief stricken. However, I did have one glimmer of light… I knew at a deep level… that I would not let this beat me. I would get up again. I would survive. I didn’t imagine ever being truly happy. I thought, if I got to OK, where I didn’t cry every day, I would be doing pretty good. I still went to college. I still went to work. I had some fantastic people in my life that lifted me up when I stumbled.

Then one day, I didn’t need to be lifted up anymore. I was on the road to getting better. I was okay.

My world shifted again when I was pregnant with my first daughter in 1994. I was on bed-rest and my mother gave me a copy of Steven Covey’s 7 Habits book. And it was the first time since my brother died, that I made the connection regarding the power of thoughts. This book set me on a path of self-discovery and personal growth. I was inspired to continue my schooling earning my Master’s and my PhD. I made it my life-long quest to discover what makes people happy and why some people are successful and other’s struggle.

I made the connection between thoughts and happiness. It was like a light bulb turned on and I realized that I could be happy if I decided to be happy. I even wrote my first book on happiness, Keys to Living Joyfully. I not only was okay, I was happy.

My early career was a hodge-podge of jobs with each one teaching me something about myself. Eventually, I moved to a career in management, and then I made the move to a career in higher education, and then training and development.

I felt, still, like I was missing something. I prayed and meditated about it. I woke up one morning in 2007 and knew I would start my own coaching and training company. I have never looked back. I had a learning curve and many challenges. It took me months to land my first client. I cried tears of frustration in the beginning. I had to learn how to market my own business which was much more challenging than sales and marketing for someone else. I had to work on my own sense of worthiness and conquer my fears, but it was exciting. It was exactly what I wanted to be doing. I thrived as I saw my clients change their lives and grow their businesses.

After a couple years of growing my company, I had another realization. I was working too many hours. There was a part of me that felt that I had to work really hard for success. I just couldn’t do it anymore, though.

I needed more balance. I dug deep, and I decided that I was going to do all of the things I really wanted to do. If that meant golfing three times a week or taking frequent vacations, I was going to do it.

My business didn’t miss a beat. In fact, it grew. When I was taking care of me and having fun, the energy of my business responded to that. I am still a queen of action, but I am relaxed about it. And I only act when I am in the inspired action state.

Every choice has a purpose. Every move is deliberate. I am deliberating creating my business and life every day.

Change your story, change your life

Take a moment to check in with yourself. How is everything really going? Is it time for a new story?   If things aren’t going the way you want them to be going, take a look at the story that you have created. Have you created a story that makes things hard, challenging, and frustrating?

For instance, lots of people create this kind of story around money, around their ideal job, raising kids, getting a house, etc. But you can choose to tell a different story.

I realized that I had created a story around specific bills- not all my bills in general, but there were two where I felt resentment and guess what- it became extremely hard for me to pay those bills. They just seemed to never get paid down in any significant way, I realized I was creating a story around them that was different than the story I held for my other bills. I made a conscious choice to create a new story.

My new story was that these two bills were teeny-tiny in the big picture. I focused on how easy it is to pay them. My energy shifted. As I focused on my beautiful big picture, less negative emotion was attached to these two bills. I freed up my time and attention and became less attached. It was a breath of fresh air.

If things aren’t working, decide today that you will choose differently. Choose a new powerful story. Choose a story that lifts you up, excites you, and makes you inspired.

Create a new story by deciding how you want the story to be- not how you are currently seeing the story.

Steps to a new story:

  1. Recognize that you have created a story about where you are now.
  2. Decide how you would like to be and feel.
  3. Create a new, better feeling story.
  4. Notice your shift in energy
  5. Take one or two inspired action steps based on your new, better feeling story

Living a Heart-Centered Life and Thriving

I have been collecting stories for my upcoming new book about finding purpose and meaning: Connecting the Pieces, Living Fulfilled. As I thought about all of the incredible, truly inspiring people I met over the years, I felt gratitude filling up my heart.

The questions I have been pondering and studying are:

What truly inspires regular, ordinary people to live extraordinary lives?

How do people put together their lives in a way that fills them up with a sense of purpose and meaning?

What drives people to thrive during challenging situations?

How do people live heart centered lives without sacrificing their financial well-being?

I am awed by my experiences seeing people close up, raw, and deeply connected to their commitments to find a way to put together their lives so that they do what they love and succeed.

Creativity and a willingness to look at choices with a completely different perspective appear to be two of the keys to this process of living fulfilled.

For example, a person who wants to be an author, starts their own publishing company and not only publishes 21DaysforYourLifehis or her own book, but helps others to do the same and live their dreams. Or a person who sees a desparate need and starts an event planning company to help non-profits to raise funds. Or a person who sees an educational need for young women and creates a website that provides this vital information and training. Or the person who realizes after a near death experience that there is so much left to do and be.

As you seek to live with meaning and purpose, ask yourself these questions:

What do I love?

What feels natural?

What do I do that I wish I could make money doing?

What makes me feel most alive?

What makes me feel like I am using my gifts?

When am I most fulfilled?

The above questions will help you discover more about your passion and purpose. The questions below will help you realize what is holding you back:

What makes me feel tired as soon as you think of it?

Where do I feel I make most of my mistakes?

What feels exhausting?

What  do I wish would go away?

Start releasing, letting go, deleting or delegating items from the second list.

Journal Prompt:

How important is it for me to live a fulfilling life? What do I feel and think it will take to get me there?

If you are not using a journal, many of my clients have found that it is a valuable tool for change and growth. Writing even one sentence a day helps.

I discussed this topic of living fulfilled in a recent webinar, I also share some of my worst mistakes on my path and how I bounced back- you can still hear the replay – no opt in required Click Here

Find Your Passion, What is Pulling You?

heartsFebruary is a month of passion and a time to explore what the heart wants. Ever thought about making your own furniture, pursuing a demanding career, or starting your own foundation?  What we are really talking about here is being passionate about life, doing what feels like a natural extension of your heart,  and being who you are no matter what the world thinks.

Have you heard of Kelly Clark? She is a three time Olympic snowboarder and she delivered in Sochi, but what is so impressive to me about Kelly is that she started a foundation, The Kelly Clark Foundation, where she helps out talented athletes and scholars.

She has finely honed and developed her talents and is giving back in a big way. I also love that Kelly builds her own wood furniture and her faith is deeply important to her.

The Olympics gives us a venue to study and learn about high level achievers. I find that I am always pulled to the athletes who are deeply grounded and big time go-givers.

Kelly, to me, represents what life is all about- finding and living your passion and making a difference. We all can aspire to live this way. You don’t have to be an Olympic Athlete, but you can have the heart of one.  If you feel like you have lost your passion, you can rekindle it and fan it into a big flame again. Look to the things that pull you. What pulls and tugs at your heart is a key to passion. Move toward what is pulling you and away from what is draining you. As you choose more of what you love and listen to your heart, and choose less of what feels like a big, heavy weight- you will come alive.

I have devoted my whole life to finding out what makes people happy, what inspires people, and why some people succeed and others do not. I have been writing about purpose and passion for years. I know that this is truly the zest of life and a huge key to living in happiness and success.  In my book, Be the Inspiration: 7 Ways to Inspire Your World, I teach people  how to find their unique voices and live with purpose.

Be the Energy of What You Desire

In order to achieve what it is that you want in life whether it is success, happiness, or even a very specific goal, your energy vibration needs to match with what you desire. This is true for your personal life, your career, and/or your business.
A popular misconception is that somehow your personal energy is different than your career/business energy. They are the same. It is all about energy. Your career or business needs to vibrate at the frequency of the desired goals, too.
So if you own a business that depends on clients. Your biz needs to be aligned with the energetic charge of meeting the desires and goals of your clients. If you align only with your profit goals- your energy will not match with your prospective clients. This also applies to your career. In your career, you have to be the energy of the promotion that you want or the raise that you want. And you have to be the energy of meeting needs- the energy of helping- the energy of making a difference.
Now, this concept is easy to understand, but difficult for many to implement. How can you be the energy of something you haven’t done yet? Being the energetic vibration of something foreign to you right now in your life seems almost impossible. In fact, it is very easy to be the energy of exactly what your life is right now. That frequency is what is most famliar to you.
There are several techniques to shift your energy so you can be the energy of what you want.
  • You may have tried affirmations to shift your energy and felt like they don’t work. Well, they don’t work when you say the affirmation and feel energetically that the affirmation is untrue. Affirmations do work when you clear and shift your resistance at the same time. I can help you do this work during a session.
  • You can also align your energetic vibration through guided meditation. I can help you with this.
  • You can shift your energy vibration through an energy boosting, transformational, heart centered, action oriented, and spiritually aligned coaching session. I can help you with this too.
  • We can also work on releasing limiting beliefs and setting goals that align with your purpose/passion. We can work on creating your most powerful success mindset and help you create more happiness and a deeper spiritual connection.
I would love to work with you one on one so we can be very specific about your desires and your goals.  My one on one coaching package for nine- one hour sessions over three months is three thousand dollars. (there are some really great perks built into this too).
But, did you know that I offer a one-on-one coaching package for $497?

Hear what some of my clients have to say:

“I have known Sheri since 2011, and since then, I have received so much value from her personal coaching, products, and classes — she offers terrific resources for creating and living a deeply satisfying business and life.  Initially, I enrolled in one of her courses and then received life coaching from her.  I then participated in her Success Club – listened to the calls and incorporated her worksheets and resource tools into some major life transitions.  I have relied on her business coaching, too.  Consistently, no matter what venue or medium, she brings top quality to her clients.  And in my book, what makes Sheri such an effective coach is the combination of her intelligence, experience, intuition, and practical skills.  First off, she is smart as a whip, and she coaches from a foundation of many years of ‘real world’ experience in business and education.  Sheri is also highly intuitive, which couples be autifully with her finely-tuned listening and questioning skills.  Once we’ve hammered out the challenges, Sheri is intentional in making sure our sessions and my action steps propel me towards my goals.  Translation: I’m clearing hurdles, am happier and more relaxed, and I’m making strides!  With her as my coach, I have a new depth of confidence because I finally see a clear path to achieving my business, financial, and lifestyle goals.  It is exciting to work with her, and I wholeheartedly recommend Sheri’s services and products as excellent tools for upleveling any area of your life.” Christy Calbos

“Working with Sheri has been a great experience.  She is truly an inspirational person.  Working with her you can feel the vibrant energy she sends through her classes.  I made the connection with her through  an on line class that I took..  Sheri is a wonderful person to work with.  She offers many tools that can be used in everyday life.  I think everyone should take or at least try one of Sheri’s classes.  It is very well worth it.” Norma S.

“Sheri is generous in sharing her wisdom. For those who prefer the written word, Sheri has written many books on how to live a successful and joyful life. However, words are a small percentage of communication and Sheri enriches the lives of all who listen to her podcasts and web conferences. She blends together her business leadership and teaching experience with personal life lessons to encourage and enlighten her clients lives. Interactive sessions will increase your awareness of what is required to gain clarity and rapidly move forward. Sheri is an excellent, relate-able mentor and coach who is interested in your success.”

Doug Jarvie

“Sheri has given me the tools to becoming a more confident person. A woman that is more assertive and knows what she wants. i have  become much more positive in my way of thinking and handling difficult situations. Sheri has always been available by phone, text, or e mail. Thank you Sheri for always being there for me. You are an inspiration”
