Assuming you have created the best plan and actions steps, ever, for your life, the question becomes- How do you implement it? The real questions are- how do you stay motivated for the day in and day out action that is required to achieve your goals? How do you get going on days when you really feel like doing nothing? And how do you keep from giving up when you experience a set-back or let-down?
I am a strong believer in intrinsic motivation. When you are able to truly tap your real inner reasons why you want to make a change and/or achieve a goal, you will be naturally more motivated. However, there are times, when it helps to have a “bag of tricks” or “a motivational toolbox”. Everyone needs extra- motivation at times. When you plan ahead for those times, you won’t be caught by surprise when you just don’t want to take the needed action.
Here are some things to include in your “bag of tricks”:
- Meditation mp3
- Motivational mp3
- Inspirational books
- Inspirational quotes
- Websites, phone numbers and email addresses of inspiring,uplifting people
- Phone apps that inspire you
- A favorite movie
- An accountability buddy
- Professional help from a coach or therapist
