Happy Thanksgiving, sharing my appreciation list.

My daughter Sonja and Chris Mann

Happy Thanksgiving. We have a tradition at our house where we go around the table and have each person say what they appreciate over the past year. I thought I would share my list with you. These ten things are in random order- in fact I could put them all at number one.

Nickaftergameheadshot
My son,Nick, after a hard fought game.

1. I am thankful for my family. My husband of over 20 years, still takes my breath away.  Each member of my family is unique with a different way of communicating love. I cherish our dinner conversations and keeping in touch over text, facebook and email for distant loved ones.

2. I am thankful for you. You are part of my community. And I cannot imagine my life without you. Your goals and your dreams are part of me every day. I am constantly thinking about you and how I can help.

3. I am thankful for deep life-long friendships. My life-long friends seem to just know what is going on in my head and my heart.

4. I am thankful for travel. I took 7 trips over the last 12 months.  I appreciate that the opportunity was there and I stretched out of my comfort zone even having an unplanned encounter with a shark while I was in a kayak in the Bahamas.

5. I am thankful that my business has grown dramatically this year. I added the Be the Inspiration Mastermind, Optimize Your Path Member site, and the Master Your Innergame eCcourse. Working with clients in these new programs is fulfilling and meaningful.

6. I am thankful that I held a live event in my city of Parker with amazing attendees. It was one of the best two days of my entire career.

7. I am thankful my children are happy and successful.

Beatrice Lake
Beatrice Lake, MN

8. I am thankful that I was able to visit many rivers, lakes and oceans; kayaking, canoeing, boating, and jet-skiing.

9. I am thankful for the terrific coaches that have gone through and are currently going through my life coaching certification program.

10. I am thankful for every day happiness.

Just typing this list, makes my heart fill with love and joy. I know when I focus on what is working, life flows and feels abundant. I would love to hear about your top ten appreciation list, too.

Find Your Passion, What is Pulling You?

heartsFebruary is a month of passion and a time to explore what the heart wants. Ever thought about making your own furniture, pursuing a demanding career, or starting your own foundation?  What we are really talking about here is being passionate about life, doing what feels like a natural extension of your heart,  and being who you are no matter what the world thinks.

Have you heard of Kelly Clark? She is a three time Olympic snowboarder and she delivered in Sochi, but what is so impressive to me about Kelly is that she started a foundation, The Kelly Clark Foundation, where she helps out talented athletes and scholars.

She has finely honed and developed her talents and is giving back in a big way. I also love that Kelly builds her own wood furniture and her faith is deeply important to her.

The Olympics gives us a venue to study and learn about high level achievers. I find that I am always pulled to the athletes who are deeply grounded and big time go-givers.

Kelly, to me, represents what life is all about- finding and living your passion and making a difference. We all can aspire to live this way. You don’t have to be an Olympic Athlete, but you can have the heart of one.  If you feel like you have lost your passion, you can rekindle it and fan it into a big flame again. Look to the things that pull you. What pulls and tugs at your heart is a key to passion. Move toward what is pulling you and away from what is draining you. As you choose more of what you love and listen to your heart, and choose less of what feels like a big, heavy weight- you will come alive.

I have devoted my whole life to finding out what makes people happy, what inspires people, and why some people succeed and others do not. I have been writing about purpose and passion for years. I know that this is truly the zest of life and a huge key to living in happiness and success.  In my book, Be the Inspiration: 7 Ways to Inspire Your World, I teach people  how to find their unique voices and live with purpose.

I would love to chat with you about your passion and purpose. Click Here for a Step Into Inspired Action free coaching session.

12 Days of Christmas Cheer Day – Tap your personal power

12 Days of Christmas Cheer

Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas Cheer Giveaway

Today’s Tip:

“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.”  Napoleon Hill

I watched part of National Lampoon’s Christmas show late last night with the ever troubled character that Chevy Chase plays. Disaster and crazy happenings seem to follow him around. We laugh and giggle at the movie. When watching the movie, most people can look at their own holiday gatherings and their own lives and have a sense of thinking “at least my life is not that bad or my family is not that crazy.”

When you look a little deeper at the movie though, the theme taps the idea that events happen to people and people are the victims of their outer circumstances. In fact, the nicer you are are- the more disaster happens to strike. Chevy Chase’s character is a likable, funny, and normal guy- and nothing ever works out quite like he wants it to work out.

If  we look at Napoleon Hill’s quote that I provided above,  it directly contrasts with the messages that we receive in mainstream media and entertainment.  His quote reminds us that we do have great personal power. Don’t give it away and mostly don’t let it just fade away because you don’t use it.

You are more powerful than you can imagine. You are empowered every moment of every day.  Identify and align yourself with strength and the idea that you are a powerful, deliberate creator.  Journal Exercise Prompt: Ask yourself, “What do I want to create?”

It’s Christmas Day- 12 Days of Christmas Cheer

12 Days of Christmas Cheer

Day 10  of the 12 Days of Christmas Cheer Giveaway

Each day through Dec 27, I will offer a coaching tip on a self-growth topic, plus a free downloadable gift and a special discount on my coaching products. On the final day, I will be holding a drawing from all of the blog comments and will be giving out a $25 Amazon gift card to a drawing prize winner. Enter the drawing by commenting on the blog posts. (Note- One comment per day per person will be entered into the drawing).

Today’s Tip:

Merry Christmas. My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night” sung by Martina McBride (her accapella version). And my favorite Christmas season entertainment is the Nutcracker ballet.

It’s Christmas Day- a day of celebration and a day of both giving and receiving. It feels wonderful to give on Christmas, but it is also important to receive gifts graciously. Instead of “Oh, you shouldn’t have” or “That’s too much.” Try “Thank you so much.”

I find that holidays intensify our habitual ways of thinking and being. So, this is a great time to take notice of your patterns.  If you have a hard time receiving whether it is gifts, help, compliments, and/or money, you are blocking  the good things that are coming your way. When we refuse to be thankful, accepting, and gracious at receiving, we are saying “no” to the Universe- and the universe responds by adjusting your results.

Ever notice that when people are given a choice of good, better or best- they usually choose the middle choice. Why is that? Why don’t people choose the best more often?

If you notice that, in general, you fall short on realizing your goals, begin to be better at receiving. Set your intention to expand your openness to receive by five or ten times. One of the best ways to practice is to start accepting help when people offer it.

12 Days of Christmas Cheer Day 9

12 Days of Christmas Cheer

Day 9  of the 12 Days of Christmas Cheer Giveaway

Each day, I will offer a coaching tip on a self-growth topic, plus a free downloadable gift and a special discount on my coaching products. On the final day, I will be holding a drawing from all of the blog comments and will be giving out a $25 Amazon gift card to a drawing prize winner. Enter the drawing by commenting on the blog posts. (Note- One comment per day per person will be entered into the drawing). I have designed the 12 days of Christmas to end a few days after Christmas.

Today’s Tip:

It is Christmas Eve and I woke up this morning feeling so much love in my heart, not just for family, but for everyone in my life and all of humanity. I almost felt like my heart would burst with happiness. I started my morning with coffee and a drive through the country. I love the mountain views. When I see the sun rise and turn the snow capped mountains pink and purple with sparkles, it takes my breath away.

Here is a poem that I wrote in 2009- that I would like to share with you:

Winter Morning

Before dawn
Slowly moving
Stretching
I breathe in the chilly air
Snow crunching
Wind tickling my face
Part of me wants
To turn back
To snuggle in my warm bed
Part of me is awakening
With the promise
Of an exciting new day
I begin
Quickening the pace
Muscles warming
Heart accelerating
The sun is slowly creeping up
I turn the corner
At the top of the hill
I pause in glorious wonder
The mountain peaks
Snowy , sparkly, pink
As  the sun kisses them
Glowing with the
Promise of the new day.
Thank you Lord for your
spectacular, beautiful day.

Even though you are probably booked solid over the next few days with family gatherings, cooking, presents, and all of your Holiday traditions. Take a few minutes to breathe in the glorious day and appreciate the beauty surrounding you.
