Day 5 of the 12 Days of Christmas Cheer giveaway

Take a few minutes today to write down your gratitude list. It is really effective to do it first thing in the morning, but you can do it any time throughout the day. Notice your energy shift as you complete your list. Here is my own example.
I am thankful for my relationships with my clients and the progress they are making.
I am thankful for the way my older sons mentor my youngest son in sports.
I am thankful for the hour that I had by myself to enjoy some fine cheese and crackers and appreciate the silence.
I am thankful for my new, cute warm boots that I will wear when I go into the mountains.
I am thankful for my interview today with Mal Duane- she is hosting a wonderful series starting in February on empowering women.
I am thankful for kind neighbors.
I am thankful for a beautiful hot cup of coffee.
I am thankful the beauty of the mountains.
I am thankful for the few minutes I spent talking with a wonderful woman when I was in line at the store.
I am thankful for Christmas lights.
You can see how this is a fairly simple list, and I felt so good as I thought about each item. As I wrote the list, I felt better and better until I felt a feeling of joy sweep through me and fill me up.
I have written a gratitude list nearly every day for years and years. I know its power. Before I made this a daily practice, I admit, before I became involved in my quest for every day happiness, I would roll my eyes when people suggested a gratitude list. I thought, “How can it make that much of a difference?” It did make a difference, immediately.
