How To Do Exactly You

“Keep it real”, “Be authentic”, “Be Yourself”. We hear this A LOT, but what does all of that mean, exactly? There is so much to share on this subject of being yourself, but right now I want to focus on how to DO YOU as an entrepreneur. I meet, talk to and serve many women that are either in the early stages of business ownership or very much want to start a business. I often hear one of two extremes. Either you have NO idea what to do, or you have more ideas than you can handle. What kind of business should you start? Before we get into that, my prayer is that at this point you have determined that you even SHOULD be starting a business. If you are intrinsically an entrepreneur, you enjoy time and financial freedom, you can deal with people, are teachable, have a simple solution to a common problem, and are WILLING to do whatever it takes, then by all means, GO FOR IT!
So, you’re trying to figure out what you were called to do. Answering these questions will guide you to that answer.
What are you mostly called to do? Literally. What are people always asking of you? Are you the one people always call on for advice? The one they always call on to put something together? To help decorate? To cook? To serve as treasurer? To lead?
Do you like doing these things? Does it fulfill you? Do you gladly jump to answer the call? If money was no object (which we all know it is), would you do it for free? Believe me, just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you have to do it for a living. It’s sort of important to enjoy what you do.
Do other people need what you have to offer? Are your sought after talents marketable? Can you easily monetize it?
Who else offers a similar product or service? Yeah, scope the competition. You’re going to have to do it anyway, so get a jump start. This could be an awe inspiring exercise. What’s “out there”? How can you could do it different or better?
What is your unique value proposition? What makes you the best person for the job? What do you bring to the table that nobody else can prepare and cook quite like you?
