Have you been off-track? Perhaps you have been moving along accomplishing your goals and getting to a place where you feel like everything is happening just the way that you always imagined it… then suddenly you are off track. Maybe you even feel unmotivated, un-inspired, and everything seems difficult. You start beating yourself up and then you feel even worse. Getting off-track is normal.
If you can look at this off-track feeling as a normal part of your success cycle… you will recover faster. Allow some time to just be in that off-track place. Accept it. Ask what can I learn from this? Be gentle. Indulge in some pampering. Read books just for the fun of it. Listen to music. Sleep. Have loving conversations with friends and family.
If your off-track phase seems to extend longer than a day or two, here are some ways you can ease yourself back into being inspired and motivated. Do any or all of these and you will begin to kindle the spark of motivation.
Read inspiring books with powerful lessons (Covey, Ponder, Hill, Canfield, Abraham-Hicks- any of my books)
Write an appreciation list in your Journal.
Write down everything that is frustrating you and then burn it or rip it up.
Use positive affirmations every day (email me to get my affirmations mp3 or get them from my podcast Life Coach and Author Sheri Kaye Hoff on itunes .
Write down a list of everything that you want to be, do and have like it is already present in your life.
Reevaluate what you are already doing and tweak it.
Get your body moving (gentle stretching, walking, running, dancing, vacuuming- anything).
Watch Soul Surfer, Secretariat, Rudy or any other inspiring movie.
Clean out your files on your PC or your files in your filing cabinet.
Wash your car (this probably sounds funny- but I always get motivated when my car is clean- even if I am not the one cleaning it).
This blog has contained a combination of being, allowing, and acting steps to help you weather a period of feeling like you are off-track.
