Blast Through Clutter to Clear Your Blocks

When you are struggling and clear thinking seems like an impossibility, clearing physical clutter can give you sharp, focused thinking. Maybe you are working on a project and you feel stalled or maybe you have been dealing with writer’s block or creativity blocks.  It is frustrating, I know. But there is a speedy method to get you back on track.

Instead of trying to think your way out of it, “do” your way out of it. Take on an unrelated task that you can finish in a reasonable amount of time. For example, clean out and wash your car, clean out a closet, clean out and organize a dresser drawer, clean off the top of your desk, clean out a file… even just one file,  or organize your silverware drawer…  choose any task where you can go from chaos or disorganization to clean, pristine, and organized.

This simple technique brings amazing calm, clear focus to your mind. I use this technique when I feel my concentration or creativity fading. Upon completion of my organizing task, I find myself able to solve mental puzzles and come up with creative solutions. My mind appreciates the new order and I find it to be freeing and liberating.

Try it.

Warmest,

Coach Sheri

It is Only with One’s Heart…

“It is only with one’s heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Coaching Tip: If you are having a hard time with clarity around your decision making or planning, do  a heart check. Your heart knows what it wants. Get quiet, put your hand over your heart… ask, “What is my heart telling me?”

You may find the answer pops up immediately or you may find that you just get an overall, peaceful feeling… knowing the answer is on its way to revealing itself. You might also feel nothing… that is okay.

It takes practice to settle yourself down in order to be able to listen to your heart. However, the reward is great. You find yourself living a life of purpose and passion instead of a life of  ”shoulds” and “have tos” .

See clearly with your heart, today…

It’s 2011…make it the best year of your life

It’s 2011…How are you going to make it the Best Year of Your Life?

Start with a goal poster. Cut up pictures, captions, etc from magazines (they should be meaningful to you) and put on a poster board. (If you have kids…have them create one, too). Once you are finished, put up your poster in a prominent place. I have mine in my Master Bathroom.

Then, make a list of the experiences you desire-More peace? More passion? More energy? More joy? Focus on how these experiences contribute to your life. What does having more peace mean to you? Does it mean deep, restful sleep and/or an overall feeling of relaxation? What about passion? Do you truly love what you do? If not, how can you change it or eliminate it? If you need more energy, what foods are you eating and what are you doing to move your body? If you  desire more joy, are you living in the moment , forgiving people, forgiving yourself, and focusing your thoughts in the right direction? Reflect on these questions in your journal.

Establish a ritual that starts each day. Mine is listening to music, lighting candles, using essential oils (pomegranate is my favorite), praying, meditating, and writing in my journal.

Trust your intuition to guide you in taking on new projects and opportunities. If you need some inspiration around taking action steps. Check out my new audio Inspired Action.

Sending blessings and love to you this year.

I wish you the best year of your life.

The Quest for Perfection

Are you on a quest for perfection? I can completely relate to you. I  have been there…engaged in a quest for perfection. Guess what happened? I felt constantly frustrated. Yes, I would have moments of elation when I felt I had delivered as close to perfection as I could get…yet I seemed to live most of my life in dissatisfaction. As soon as I seemed to get close to perfection in one area…I would see other areas that were far from perfect.

Let go…and live in the moment. Any perfectionist is always living in the future…a future where some day the world is perfect.  Even though I have let go of the quest…I still believe in and strive for quality, yet I am satisfied, happy, and revel in the effort.  As you reflect over 2010 and look forward to 2011, it is easy to have the perfectionist lenses in your glasses, try to approach this reflection and anticipation with peacefuland loving  thoughts towards yourself and others.  I had to work at this today …when my husband told me this morning that I sounded just like his mother.I do love his mother…but you get the idea…it wasn’t the greatest moment of our almost 18 year marriage. We did end up laughing about it. You see…you can bring love, peace, and laughter in…and let perfection release and lift away from you like a deep breathe out.

What is your goal anyway? Most likely, some piece of the goal or maybe the whole thing is to be some version of successul, happy, relaxed, peaceful, connected, and loved. None of those are tied to perfection…they are really aspects of soul fulfillment.

You can learn how conscious thinking, unconditional love, your system of beliefs, and your inspired action come together to living successfully and joyfully everyday in my new eBook..this eBook also comes with over $1000 in bonus gifts (I just added three new gift partners over the last week) to give you solid tools, tips and techniques on happily living the life you really want. (none of these tools are trying to make you perfect or make you think you need to be perfect…they are focused on helping you be your authentic self). My bonus gift partners are some of my best friends in the coaching world: Eva Gregory, Mary Allen, Michele Caron, Chantal Beaupre, Linda Hardenstein, Maria Erving, Crystal Miller, Michelle Shaeffer, Tomar Levine, Amber Delwey, Janet Nestor, and Stephanie Mojica

I am Thankful for YOU

Thanksgiving

I am thankful for YOU.

As we near the US holiday of Thanksgiving, my heart reflects on my gratitude list. I am so happy and thankful for a great coaching year- that featured three Success Summits, the launch of my Success Club, the launch of the 21 day Success Bootcamp, the upcoming launch of my brand new eBook (Dec 6), and several Jump Start the Joy Coaching Groups. I could not have done this without you…you make my heart sing. Thank you for being you.

I am, also, so thankful for my coaching colleagues and guest experts support throughout the year. On a personal note, I am so very thankful that my daughter Sonja recovered fully from her head injury. This has been a very full, rewarding, and blessed year. And 2011 promises to be even better.

January kicks off with my New Year Summit featuring Marci Shimoff and other spectacular experts and at the end of the January; I am attending the I Can Do It At Sea Hay House cruise.  No after Christmas let down for me…the New Year starts with a bang… And I encourage you to do some planning so your new year can start with explosive growth for you, too. Take some time to reflect on the past year…and start putting down some thoughts about 2011 and beyond… If you start now, you will likely have that growth explosion I am talking about- as opposed to going into March of 2011 saying “I can’t believe it is March already”.

Let me know how I can help you…

Let’s reset, recalibrate…

What is one of the traits that successful people have in common? Successful people have the ability to reset or recalibrate after a dissappointment or setback.  If you quickly get yourself back in the game and are able to sort of push the “reset” button for yourself…you will be able to bounce back and move forward. I especially notice this with sports. I notice when I watch football games that some teams seem to get mentally shaken after a bad call, a bad play, or an injured player while other teams rally and rise to the challenge and become even better throughout the game. This is a great metaphor for what happens to us in every day life, too.

One of the elements that factor into whether or not you can quickly reset- is the level of self awareness you bring to the situation. Quickly noticing that you are shaken up helps you to reset. When you are “numb” or in “denial” you will stay down longer.  A key to this self- awareness is to check in with yourself after a mistake, a setback….whatever you experienced. As you check in- take a  few deep breaths and mentally tell yourself  “I am resetting” or “I am calm, I am centered” ..”I am strong”….or “I release and let go of…”

Resetting helps your focus and your energy.

My wish for you is to live successfully and joyfully every day.

DeStress Your Holiday Season

The Holiday season is coming up fast and I wanted to share my tips on managing time during this fun, family oriented, yet exhausting season. If you are like most people, the Holiday Season is filled with extra activities, gatherings, and other tasks. Yet you still have your carpools, commutes, jobs, and everything else that goes along with your everyday life. This time of the year should be special, not stressful because you have tried to pack too much in to your days. My time management strategies during the Holidays include the following:

Be realistic in your expectations: Realize that everything takes some amount of time. When you plan your shopping, wrapping presents, or other projects-look at your week. Is it realistic? Can one human being possibly accomplish everything that you have planned? If not, eliminate, restructure, or delegate.

Set aside time for the important things: If you have an important work deadline or home project make sure that you have created time for it. Maybe you need to eliminate the Christmas caroling. Now if you have Christmas caroled for years and this is truly special for you-maybe this would not be the item that you choose to take out of your schedule. Evaluate and prioritize. The point is-that you do not have to say “yes” to every opportunity that arises in your life. Choose to do the things that truly have a value for you in your life.

Do one thing at a time: To all the multi taskers out there–you are not being as effective as you could be if you did one thing at a time. Now, sometimes multitasking is unavoidable, but for the most part, you do have control over whether you tackle things one at a time or try to do multiple tasks at once. By focusing on one thing, you have a higher level of concentration and will be able to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time.

Avoid procrastination: Most procrastination stems from fear-fear of the unknown or fear of not accomplishing something successfully. Occasionally, you may procrastinate on tasks that you simply do not want to do-here is where you ask yourself if you can eliminate it, delegate it or hire someone else to do it. Overcoming procrastination involves one simple idea-just start. Start your task with some activity or aspect of the project. Remember that saying, “a body in motion tends to stay in motion”?

Live joyfully: truly enjoy the Holiday Season. Appreciate and be thankful for your friends, your family, your home, your vehicle, your job….the list could go on and on. Be in a state of gratitude and love. Live joyfully

Following effective time management strategies during the Holidays will ease tension and allow you to live in the moment. Have a blessed Holiday Season.
