One thing I notice during a perceived or real down economy, is that many people choose to cut out or cut down on support services. Maybe small biz owners use their VA’s for a few less hours, maybe coaching sessions are spread out over a longer period of time, etc.
Cutting expenses is often a first line of defense when business seems to decline or lack growth. This is not really bad news for coaches, consultants, and other service providers…
Why do I say this? Here’s the thing…I am also noticing that service providers are becoming highly creative at offering alternatives such as group coaching and/or membership sites or clubs. People are able to get services from highly sought after professionals for reasonable prices. Some things might suffer, for instance, the one one one attention. But, there are so many other perks to groups and member sites, that you just might find that you are moving forward even faster when you use them.
So instead of looking at a service as either/or (either I keep my service or I cut it to save on expenses), why not see if you can get the service as part of a group or membership club? How can you find these groups and sites? Twitter is a great place to start. Pose a question to your followers. You will likely get responses and referrals. And to the small biz owners/coaches/consultants…if you are only offering individual one on one services…consider how you can you package your expertise into another format (groups, ebooks, audios, ecourses, etc).
I find that many times, under pressure, people become highly resourceful and creative which is great for businesses and clients.
