Your Path to Success: Jump Start the Joy

Joy is defined in the dictionary as a state of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying.

But I define it as something even more meaningful. Joy, to me, is perpetual happiness.  It doesn’t have to be “caused” by something.  It just is.  You can have ongoing joy, without cause, reason or justification.

You don’t have to go looking for it.

You don’t have to go see a funny movie, or attend a wedding or watch fireworks to experience joy.  You can just have it.  When you wake up, when you eat, when you’re running errands, even when you pay your bills.

And I can show you how, in my super charged, energy filled, and joyfilled 6 month program, Your Path to Success: Jump Start the Joy in Your Life.

For 6 months we’ll focus on creating a joy filled and successful life for you, every moment of every day. So ask yourself this critical question:

What could I accomplish over the next 6 months?

The principles and processes in my book, Keys to Living Joyfully can make a difference in your life. But changing a lifetime of habits isn’t easy.  And if you’re finding yourself falling back a bit, don’t worry, it’s completely normal.

Many people just like you tend to get better results with ongoing support and encouragement, and that’s what this program is all about.  I will personally work with you in a dynamic and lively group phone-coaching environment to set you on a course to achieving your life goals.

What if your life could just flow, without stress, struggle or worry?

Would you feel differently about things?  Would situations bother you less?  Would you wake up each morning with a transformed outlook and a new spring in your step?

There’s only one way to find out.

Let me share with you some of the life-changing discoveries you and I can be experiencing together over the next six months. Through my years of training, coaching, and mentoring people, I have developed this comprehensive, unique program.

Your Path to Success/Jump Start the Joy in Your LIfe group coaching program combines personal mentoring and coaching, telephone calls and masterminding to supply you with whatever you need to complete and execute your plan for a joy filled and successful life.   In this 6-month program you’ll make these discoveries:
  • How to live joyfully no matter what is going on in your life
  • How to conquer limiting beliefs that block you from achieving your goals
  • How to cultivate thoughts that work for you and not against you
  • How to create a life of abundance and success
  • How to view time as a moldable gift
  • How to cultivate gratitude
  • How to work while inspired doing what you love
  • How to grow your spiritual life
  • How to develop awareness to keep you on a path of success
And so much more…”As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”

–Proverbs 23:7

You hold the key to having your heart thinking right.

Whatever you think about and internalize in your heart, is what you become.

Whatever you believe in your core or your spirit is what you become.

So what are you becoming?

Why the Your Path to Success/Jump Start the Joy in Your Life Coaching Program was created

I receive daily feedback from people who have read my book, my eBook, taken a workshop, or a teleclass. These people recognize that while the material and ideas are life changing and inspirational, they need more reinforcement, more insight, more encouragement, and more follow up in order to change a lifetime of habits.

This is why an ongoing program like this is so powerful and moving.  This coaching program instills changes in thoughts and reinforcement that leads to a permanent life change.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony”

–Mahatma Gandhi

Now I know what you might be thinking.  “Sheri’s probably just a joyful person, joy is probably all she’s ever known.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.  I experienced a deep personal tragedy when I was a teenager. I discovered my fifteen year old brother after his suicide death. This profoundly affected my life and impacted the thoughts that I had surrounding happiness and joy. I thought I could never be happy again and for many years, that was true.

A lifetime of learning from the masters, becoming more spiritually aware, obtaining my Master’s degree, and mentoring other people in leadership positions all helped to create the inner knowledge and spirituality that I needed to live a truly joy filled life again. I want to share these discoveries with you and help you to live a truly joyful and successful life.

 You can choose joy…

You can live joy…

You can have a joyful and successful life from this day forward…

What would your life look like if you woke up every day with a joyful song in your heart and felt truly filled with joy?How would this impact the people in your life?

What would it mean to you?

In this program you’ll learn how to start letting go and replacing negative thoughts with more constructive ones. You will be recognizing, allowing, and embracing more joy in your life. You will learn how to tap into abundance and live your dreams in every aspect of your life.

At the End of the Day It’s All About Growing, Improving and Thriving

You may be thinking that nothing can change in your life, but I’m here to tell you that it really is possible for one program, over a 6 month period, really can have a profound impact on what you do and how you feel from now on.In this program, you will be growing spiritually; you will develop more control over your thoughts. You will experience more peace, passion, energy, and joy every moment of every day, if you allow it to happen and take the actions steps.

And if you don’t know what it is you want out of life, you’ll discover that too. I’ll show you not only how to live joyfully every day,  but how to discover your own keys to living joyfully. You will create and then learn to live your vision.  Like a miner digs for gold, we’ll mine for sources of joy and success deep inside of you, and we won’t stop until they’ve come to the surface.

Overcome Three Hurdles to Writing Your Book

Overcome three hurdles to writing your book.

If you are a coach, consultant, online biz owner, or small biz owner, it makes sense to write a book. You have expertise to share with the world and writing a book adds to your professional credibility and increases opportunities. Many of my life coaching clients fit into this category where a book could create a big impact. The most common things I hear from people when they are considering writing a book are:

  • I don’t have enough time
  • I can’t decide on my topic
  • I don’t know where to start

You can write a book fast. I wrote my book, Keys to Living Joyfully, in four weeks. I wrote my Top Life Coaching Tips ebook in one day. I created my 21 day Success Bootcamp ecourse in two weeks. Okay, now I might sound like I am bragging a bit…really, I am just letting you know, that if I can do it fast- so can you.

Here are some quick writing tips:

  • Gather everything you have written already (blogs, newsletters, articles, etc). Look for a theme…could these be compiled into a book? Or could some of them be parts of book chapters.
  • Topic: don’t worry about having to select the one topic that completely defines you as a person. Most people have too many ideas and you really can write more than one book. The idea is to first successfully complete one. You can even create revised editions as you change and grow.
  • Write about what you know the most about and/or are most passionate about.
  • Create a preliminary list of chapters.
  • Clearly write to a person or group of people. Imagine, you are sitting down for coffee..what would you say?
  • When you write…don’t edit until you have completed a chapter. Let your writing flow out…then go back and edit.
  • Write when you are inspired to write. Don’t force it. If you are not inspired, do things that inspire you (listen to music,

Of course there are more tips…and I do teach a write your book fast and fabulously workshop, but just using this list – is a huge step forward and will get you to a finished manuscript, if you are willing to give it a try.

Warmest,
Coach Sheri

How to Work with a Mentor

How to Work with a Mentor

By Sheri Kaye Hoff

If you have found a great mentor (either a paid coaching relationship or a volunteer), consider yourself blessed, You have a unique opportunity to tap into that person’s wisdom , possibly develop a lifelong bond, and make a quantum leap in your life.  People usually volunteer to mentor people because they want to give back and/ or they really believe in their mentees’ potential/vision.  A paid mentoring relationship can be equally or even more beneficial because you generally have your mentor’s undivided attention during paid sessions. Bottom line, is a mentor wants to feel like they are helping to make a difference.

One of the main keys regarding mentoring is maintaining a balance. The mentee needs to keep his or her own voice, and assimilate mentor guidance.  The mentor cannot become too attached to outcomes in the mentee’s life.  The mentee should maintain mindfulness of the time that the mentor has available for the relationship. What I am talking about here is healthy boundaries. Some signs that boundaries are not set correctly are if the mentee calls the mentor at 6 am on a Sunday morning or the mentee feels that he or she cannot make even a minor decision without mentor approval. On the mentor side- signs that the relationship needs to be recalibrated are: The mentor, become emotional (upset, angry, etc) if his or her mentee does not take  advice or makes a mistake  or the mentor  worries  excessively about the mentee. So how can you carve out a healthy , mutually beneficial relationship with your mentor?  I have created the following tips and ideas based on my own mentoring experience and my experiences with my own mentors (Just so you know,  still maintain relationships with most of my current and past mentors and mentees).

First ask yourself- What do you want to get out of the relationship? If you really need or desire someone’s devoted attention to reach a big goal (launch a business, change careers, etc), you will likely want to consider hiring a mentor.  If you want assistance moving up the ladder or general ideas and you can be very patient about the time that your mentor has for you- you probably are fine with a volunteer mentor (someone you might find while networking or someone you work with currently or in the past). If you hire someone, you will work out some kind of written agreement with time and payments clearly delineated. If you have a professional person who has taken you under their wing- your time together will be more informal and not as structured.

In either case, you will have the best experience if you think about what you want.  Are you looking for marketing, financial, hiring , product development ideas, etc? Or are you thinking more about personal development- time management, organizational skills, work life balance, relationship building, etc. You will probably think of a few things I have not mentioned, too. The point is to think about this and reevaluate occasionally.

What are the mentor’s expectations? You do not need to be a mindreader. Ask your mentor what the expectations are. As a mentor, with my paid clients or anyone I take under my wing, I expect timeliness for appointments, any homework or research to be completed, and I expect an open and flexible attitude. I expect a willingness to change and grow. Think about this:  If you already know everything, why do you need a mentor?

Communication

Communication needs to be professional. Keep in mind mentors often run a business, a division, or hold leadership positions where there are time and resource demands. Stay within your time guidelines- so if you have an hour appointment- stick to that- unless your mentor seems to want to prolong the conversation (yes, some appointments do run over and that is okay occasionally, but if you find yourself asking another question just as the conversation is ending- are you really being respectful and mindful?).

Answer all emails from your mentor. When you send an email- keep it short and try to stick to one main idea. If you send a 600 word email- you will have to wait longer for an answer. You might be an evening person and your mentor might be a morning person or vice versa. So you could send an email at night and not get a response back until the next day- or longer. My goal is to respond to emails within 24-48 hours.  If you send an email over the weekend- it might take longer to get a response.  Only ask questions when you cannot get the answer yourself. If you send a series of questions where the answer could be found in 10 seconds on google- you are not asking your mentor the right questions.  Avoid asking your mentor questions when he or she has already answered them. e.g- your mentor send you a list of tools and you ask for the tools link three times. (Hint- search your email). Find some way to file all of your email from your mentor- maybe even create a Word document- called Mentor Ideas and Resources. Have a clear subject title in your email- not “hello” . An example of a clear subject title might be- “Ideas for my blog- need feedback”.  Be really clear about dates- for instance- if you want feedback on something let your mentor know when you need it- not a good idea to put anything less than 48 hours. That way- if your mentor cannot give you feedback in that amount of time- he or she can let you know.

Try New Ideas

A mentor pet peeve is when guidance or suggestions are given and the response back is full of excuses or why the guidance won’t work.  These tactics are examples that are often based in fear or ego. If you have a fear, bring it forward. Again, why do you have a mentor if you aren’t willing to try anything new? This is not to say that you implement all mentor suggestions. Just put some thought into whether or not you really could implements some new ideas.

Track your progress

As you work with your mentor- keep a journal or notebook where you can jot down ideas and track your progress. If you hired your mentor to help you launch a business how close are you? If you hired a mentor to help you grow your business- what progress have you made? It is easy to forget. If you had zero online presence and you now have a blog or website, are set up on social media, and have held virtual events-you have made huge progress.  If you honestly see that you are not moving forward- talk to you mentor. Maybe you can brainstorm some new ideas or directions.

Another good question is- When does the relationship end? In the best of circumstances- the mentor relationship goes through transitions where you might lessen the frequency of contact, then move to more of a colleague relationship. Sometimes the relationship ends more abruptly. If you strive for great communication throughout your relationship with your mentor- you most likely will have smooth transitions.

Having a mentor is truly for people who want to make that quantum leap forward. If you truly feel content and are not looking for change or growth- the mentor relationship is probably not for you. If you are ready to make your move, establishing a relationship with mentor could be a key to your success.

 Warmest,
Coach Sheri

How to be a Great Telesummit Guest Presenter

How to be a Great Telesummit Guest

I decided to write this blog because I am nearing the last few days of the Summer Success Summit and I have been receiving many emails and inquiries regarding future guest presenter options. I regularly feature top experts and best selling authors on my transformative Your Path to Success Summit series. Sometimes I work with experts who have never participated in a virtual event. I thought I would share information with you on how to be a great telesummit guest.

If you have a message, a product, a book and/or are an expert in your field, participating in a telesummit, is a great way to get your message out and possibly you will even make some money in the process.

A telesummit is a teleconference or webinar event where the host brings together expert interviews over a series of days and sometimes even weeks or months. Attendees have the advantage of signing up once and being able to access experts with a certain theme (e.g, success, marketing, joy, etc). Many times (possibly most of the time) the event is free, but upgrade packages are offered.  If a product is offered, presenters usually have the opportunity to earn affiliate commission on the product. Telesummits are powerful for attendees, hosts, and guest presenters. They are usually win/win for everyone.

If you decide that you want to be a guest presenter on a telesummit, I have some suggestions on how to make it a great experience for you, your host, and attendees. You want to be asked back or be asked to present at other events.

Providing Information

When you first receive your invitation, then upon your acceptance, your confirmation email from the host: be cognizant of all of the information that you need to provide and the due date deadlines.  You will at a minimum, need to provide a pic, a bio, and a topic. You may also be asked for your paypal email or an address to send an affiliate check. If an affiliate opportunity is available- you may have to sign up for this yourself- or your host might take care of setting up your affiliate id for you. (I take care of this for all of my guests).  You may also be given the opportunity to submit questions for the host. (This is a great opportunity for you to make sure that you cover all of your points in your presentation).  You may be asked to provide a bonus offer or free offer for attendees (put some thought into this- this is one of your main ways to build your list, sell your products/services and build a strong presence). You also need a quick easy way to deliver your offer (usually a download from a landing page). The host may ask you for your twitter id so she or he can include this in promos.  Each summit is slightly different, so there could be additional requests.

Meet all deadlines.

Promoting the Event

You also will receive marketing material from the host- a sample email and/or sample social media promos/newsletter blurbs, your affiliate link etc.  As a good guest presenter, you should promote the event. The host will heavily promote and the most successful guest presenters , also heavily promote the event. The more you promote- the more affiliate commission you will make and the more attendees you will have on your live call. It is helpful to let your host know when you are promoting (e.g. when your mailing is going out, when you are posting on twitter, fb, etc). Hosts love getting these kinds of emails.

Promote other guest presenters to help create synergy. Tweet. Blog, or facebook about other guests.

Communication

Realize that your host may get a couple hundred to a couple thousand emails a day, so if you have a question, keep your emails short and to the point (bullets help). Be sure to reference your event in the subject line. Don’t dramatically change your presentation right before the summit- stick to the plan. Respond to email questions from the host in a timely manner. Realize that only the most grave emergency is an acceptable reason to cancel your participation after the summit page is up and public.

Your Presentation Day

  • Dial in to the Summit when your host asks you to (usually anywhere from five to ten minutes early).
  • Call in from a fully charged phone or landline.
  • Be fully present for your presentation (avoid any distractions- such as email, social media, etc).
  • Be prepared for the unexpected. These are live events- there could be technical difficulties. This is where you need to go with the flow.
  • When speaking, take breaths and pause occasionally- in case the host wants to jump in and ask a question to expand on the point or topic.
  • Avoid tangents.
  • There may be an opportunity to answer questions from attendees.  It is okay to pause and think before answering.
  • Keep in mind that during telesummit, events attendees may jump on the call anywhere from fifteen minutes ahead of time and then throughout the call- most are on the line by about ten to fifteen minutes after starting time. When you are presenting- avoid prolonged exercises that might confuse people if they call in during the middle.
  • Note: on some conferences- the recording will time out after a minute of silence.
  • Be authentically who you are.
  • Have fun.

After the Summit

  • Follow up on emails from new prospects right away.
  • Give the host feedback and thank the host.
  • Debrief your own presentation: Acknowledge what went well and note anything you want to tweak for next time.
  • Note affiliate commission payout dates- if you made some affiliate commission – great- if not- that is okay too.
  • Note the benefits you gained from participating (visibility, product sales, energy, making a difference, etc).
  • If you really enjoyed being a guest- look for other guest opportunities.

The Host perspective

As a host, I am committed to bring value, fresh ideas, and tips and techniques that people can use right away. I create huge events that reach a wide audience  with a diverse guest presenter panel and I cherish guest presenters who share the vision of helping people to truly create their own path to success. If you are extremely professional and great at what you do- you might be a perfect guest for one of my future event.

Warmest,
Coach Sheri
