Let’s reset, recalibrate…

What is one of the traits that successful people have in common? Successful people have the ability to reset or recalibrate after a dissappointment or setback.  If you quickly get yourself back in the game and are able to sort of push the “reset” button for yourself…you will be able to bounce back and move forward. I especially notice this with sports. I notice when I watch football games that some teams seem to get mentally shaken after a bad call, a bad play, or an injured player while other teams rally and rise to the challenge and become even better throughout the game. This is a great metaphor for what happens to us in every day life, too.

One of the elements that factor into whether or not you can quickly reset- is the level of self awareness you bring to the situation. Quickly noticing that you are shaken up helps you to reset. When you are “numb” or in “denial” you will stay down longer.  A key to this self- awareness is to check in with yourself after a mistake, a setback….whatever you experienced. As you check in- take a  few deep breaths and mentally tell yourself  “I am resetting” or “I am calm, I am centered” ..”I am strong”….or “I release and let go of…”

Resetting helps your focus and your energy.

My wish for you is to live successfully and joyfully every day.

DeStress Your Holiday Season

The Holiday season is coming up fast and I wanted to share my tips on managing time during this fun, family oriented, yet exhausting season. If you are like most people, the Holiday Season is filled with extra activities, gatherings, and other tasks. Yet you still have your carpools, commutes, jobs, and everything else that goes along with your everyday life. This time of the year should be special, not stressful because you have tried to pack too much in to your days. My time management strategies during the Holidays include the following:

Be realistic in your expectations: Realize that everything takes some amount of time. When you plan your shopping, wrapping presents, or other projects-look at your week. Is it realistic? Can one human being possibly accomplish everything that you have planned? If not, eliminate, restructure, or delegate.

Set aside time for the important things: If you have an important work deadline or home project make sure that you have created time for it. Maybe you need to eliminate the Christmas caroling. Now if you have Christmas caroled for years and this is truly special for you-maybe this would not be the item that you choose to take out of your schedule. Evaluate and prioritize. The point is-that you do not have to say “yes” to every opportunity that arises in your life. Choose to do the things that truly have a value for you in your life.

Do one thing at a time: To all the multi taskers out there–you are not being as effective as you could be if you did one thing at a time. Now, sometimes multitasking is unavoidable, but for the most part, you do have control over whether you tackle things one at a time or try to do multiple tasks at once. By focusing on one thing, you have a higher level of concentration and will be able to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time.

Avoid procrastination: Most procrastination stems from fear-fear of the unknown or fear of not accomplishing something successfully. Occasionally, you may procrastinate on tasks that you simply do not want to do-here is where you ask yourself if you can eliminate it, delegate it or hire someone else to do it. Overcoming procrastination involves one simple idea-just start. Start your task with some activity or aspect of the project. Remember that saying, “a body in motion tends to stay in motion”?

Live joyfully: truly enjoy the Holiday Season. Appreciate and be thankful for your friends, your family, your home, your vehicle, your job….the list could go on and on. Be in a state of gratitude and love. Live joyfully

Following effective time management strategies during the Holidays will ease tension and allow you to live in the moment. Have a blessed Holiday Season.

 Warmest,

Sheri Kaye Hoff, MA, CGCL, Life Coach and Author of Keys to Living Joyfully

Playing Full Out: 10 Ways to Engage in the Game of Life

Lena Salonikas is my kick off presenter for the Fall Success Summit on Nov 1. Lena always brings great energy and success idea to the table- that is what I love about her. Please enjoy her guest blog:

Playing Full Out: 10 Ways to Engage in the Game of Life

Why is it that are so many books, movies and teachers that provide people with lessons of success yet so few are able to really create the life they desire?

Although the lessons may be straight forward, the application of the lesson may not be so easy for the quick fix, instant gratification world that we live in. And it is in the application of the lessons that we make the shift from learning, thinking and dreaming about success to engaging in the game of life and winning.

How can we make that shift to stop learning and start living? In three little words: Play Full Out.

Playing Full Out means to step into action; to take on the role that you want to play in the game of life and really make it yours. It means choosing what you want to create and allowing yourself to be the person that attracts it in.

Here are some steps you can take to step into your game of life, play more fully and move further along your path to success. The first three steps are about getting in touch with what you want and who you are. The rest are ways that you can start playing full out.

1. Choose what it is that you want to create. You can’t create something if you don’t know what you want. Don’t know what you want? Take a look at what you don’t want and think about what would make it better.

2. Get clear about and connected to what you chose in step one. Think about all the details involved, what does it look, sound, feel, taste and smell like? Really think about it and get emotionally connected to how you will feel when you manifest it.

3. Imagine what you’ll be like when you manifest your desire. What kind of person are you now? What did you do that helped you to create your desired outcome? What did you let go of? What did you allow in? What are the characteristics, strengths, values and talents that you now have?

4. Choose to take on one or more of the characteristics that you uncovered in step three and start being/embodying it now.  For example, is one of the characteristics that you are fearless? Then if you are faced with something that you don’t want to do ask yourself what you’re afraid of. Then ask yourself if you were fearless, how would you approach the situation and then do it! (Use caution and don’t do anything that jeopardizes your safety)

As you get comfortable with that characteristic, add another one in, and then another, and so on.

5. Take inspired actions. Listen to your heart, intuition, gut, inkling, promptings or whatever else you want to call it and take the actions that are associated…you know the ones….the actions that you just get the feeling to do.

6. Surround yourself with like minded people. Being around others that are also creating things and playing a bigger game in life will help to keep you positively focused and motivated.

7. Act as if. Don’t wait for if and when to occur – do it now on the scale that you can and most importantly get yourself into the atmosphere. Go on a luxury home tour and feel what it is like to be in a mansion. Test drive your dream car, or go talk to a sales person about it. Start being a philanthropist now and donate what you can to somewhere/someone that inspires you.

8. Be radically responsible for living by your values. Identify what your values are and choose to do things based on them, and only based on them. Take a stand for who you are and choose to do things that are a reflection of that.

9. Do something brave every day. Take actions daily that are brave for you. For a shy person it could be brave to strike up a conversation in a coffee shop. Likewise for someone that talks all the time spending time in silence can be a scary prospect. Or maybe being brave to you is having the courage to speak your mind. Do something that takes courage for you to do. You’ll grow in ways you never imagined and have a fuller life as a result.

10. Have as much fun as you can. Life should be fun and the more fun you’re having, or the more you experience joy, the higher a vibration you stay in. The higher the vibration you are in, the lower the resistance you have and the easier it is to allow your desires to come to you.

What/who do you choose to be and what can you do to really step into that role and play full out?

Content Writing Secrets

I have a great guest blogger for you today: Stephanie Mojica. Stephanie recently co lead my How to Write a Book Fast and Fabulously Workshop with me. She is a brilliant writer and prosperity thinker. Stephanie is also one of my featured guests next week on the Fall Success Summit . Enjoy her suggestions.

All About Content Writing Secrets: Everyone Truly Is A Writer at Heart By Stephanie Mojica

Content writing isn’t as mysterious as it may sound, and it’s the focus of my upcoming teleseminars as well as the eBook “How One Writer Shifted From Settling for $12 an Hour to Prospering at Over $90 an Hour.”

I’m one of those fortunate people who knew almost from the moment I could read at the age of three that I loved writing.

Unfortunately, it took almost 27 years for me to realize that there’s no crime in learning content writing secrets to make money.

I’ve had my share of glamorous writing jobs over my 13-year journalism career. I’ve interviewed celebrities, including now-President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the 2008 presidential campaign.

But glamour feeds the ego, not the soul nor does it fill the refrigerator in most cases.

We live in a society where people want content writing that they can read fast and they wanted it yesterday.

Fast writing always came easily to me, but using it for the Web it felt like “selling out” until I started using law of attraction principles in my life.

Women who literally can’t leave the house due to disabilities are earning real money at home writing. People who barely finished high school, or dropped out due to unforeseen circumstances. Ivy League PhD’s are content writing to get through the economic challenges of our era. All these people, as long as they can follow some basic guidelines for content writing, can make as much or more than they did working at jobs outside of the home.

Not to mention, learning just a few content writing secrets through coaching sessions, eBooks, and teleseminars can completely remove long commutes from your workday.

I once drove 3 hours round-trip each day to go to a print newspaper job that barely paid minimum wage.

Now I can work six hours and make more than I ever earned in a week at most jobs.

You can also use content writing secrets to promote your business or add side income to your life even if you never considered yourself a true writer.

Everyone is a writer at heart. I hope you’ll join me on Tuesday, November 2,  to hear more about my content writing secrets…

You truly have everything it takes to fulfill your financial destiny and also spend more time with those people you love doing the activities you enjoy.

Stephanie Mojica

Note: I so appreciate Stephanie’s wisdom and experiences that she shares with people. I know if you listen to her presentation on Tuesday- you will come away with some new tools.

Getting In Sync guest article by @CoachEva

I have a fanatastic article by one of my dear friends and biz mentor- Eva Gregory. Eva has also been a past guest on my signature success telesummits. I always find great information and tips in Eva’s articles- enjoy…

Getting In Sync

Can you feel the power that is brewing? It is the power from within that is waiting to be organized, so that you can manifest all that you truly desire when it is unleashed. Since we know that it is when one’s desire, belief, and self-esteem, the core of success, comes into alignment that anything is possible. And I do mean anything.

Are you in alignment? If not don’t fret. According to Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen, the co-authors of “The One Minute Millionaire”, they state that “this process of alignment doesn’t happen all at once. Sometimes it takes years. Other times it takes a near-death experience or some other ‘close call’ to suddenly force you to wake up and get your act together. When you don’t have any other choice … when it’s a matter of survival … you usually figure things out”. Have you learned this first hand? Isn’t it amazing that when push comes to shove many things just seem to fit together like the pieces of a puzzle?

Andy found this out first hand. His life was in shambles. He owed everyone money, had no direction to his career path, and could not maintain a long-term relationship. He was terribly unhappy and could not understand why things would not go his way. After years of unhappiness and a wanderlust that he could not shake, Andy found himself alone and in debt up to his eyeballs. One night when Andy was leaving a party he was involved in an accident. He’d been hurt pretty severely and several times his family was not sure if he’d make it. But he did. His recovery was slow and the months that it took him to rehabilitate seemed to work miracles, both physically and mentally. When Andy returned to his everyday life he was a changed man. He cared about life. He no longer drifted from job to job, but found a job and stayed with it while he attended night school to change careers. He used his earnings from his job to put himself on a budget, made arrangements with all of his creditors to pay off his debts, and began making new friends at work and school that were a positive influence on him. Shortly before graduation, Andy even met a wonderful woman that shared his new found passion for life, and they started dating. It took time and a catalyst to get Andy on track. His accident made him realize that life is a gift and that the time he had to make the most of his life was priceless.

Everyone does not need such a dramatic life altering moment as Andy, but everyone does need to recognize the defining moments, the Aha-moments, the alignment moments as they occur. So, take stock of what is going on within and what is showing up each day. When you hold no doubt in your heart your self-esteem will become solid. When your vision is not clouded by random thoughts, or stray ideas, but you are focused on your goal, you’ll have found your desire. When you can clearly state your goal and feel it resonate to your very core and outwards towards others you’ll believe. When these things occur, you’ll know that you’ve achieved synchronicity, congruence, or even better … synergy. Once this takes place, be prepared to soar … you’ll have earned it.

Eva Gregory, is a master Law of Attraction coach, speaker, author, and conscious channel. Her latest book Life Lessons for Mastering the Law of Attraction co-authored with Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup fame and one of the featured teachers on the blockbuster DVD, The Secret can be found in bookstores everywhere. In her work, Eva brings through her loving, non-physical guides, known as Theos. Theos is a stream of consciousness whose mission is to integrate our understanding of how we can embody our Higher Selves and begin to live from the highest point of consciousness NOW. To learn more about her products and services, visit Leading Edge Coaching.

I hope you enjoyed Eva’s work as much as I do…

Leadership Communication – 101 Things to Know by Laura Camacho

Leadership Communication – 101 Things to Know by Laura Camacho (Article Reprint)

After my 6 years of doctoral classes and research in Communication Studies and 13 years teaching communication, I’ve boiled it down to these 101 essentials. So you can get it, without the PhD!

1. Communication is the key to success.

2. Everything about you communicates….something.

3. You cannot not communicate.

4. The medium is the message. (Marshall McLuhan)

5. Words are only 7% of the message.

6. Your communication co-creates your reality.

7. Communication is the transfer of emotion. (Seth Godin)

8. People appreciate your being clear.

9. What you really gain through good communication is authentic connection with people.

10. You impact the energy of a room by simply entering it.

11. You have way more influence than what you think.

12. Communication is irreversible.

13. Misinterpretation of email can end your marriage. (That’s because people get upset because they see something that’s really not there.)

14. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

15. What you’re feeling is your invisible message.

16. Listening to yourself is essential to being authentic.

17. To connect with others, you have to establish trust.

18. You establish trust by being authentic and open. Know your preferences.

19. There are two levels to every message: content and relationship.

20. Everything you communicate is either building personal relationships, or doing the opposite.

21. Human motives are complex.

22. Male communication focuses on results.

23. Female communication focuses on relationships.

24. You have a choice in how you interpret others’ messages.

25. You can always choose an interpretation that best suits you.

26. Being authentic is not being selfish.

27. The optimum size for a work team to enjoy good communication is 5 to 7 people.

28. Always start an email with a greeting.

29. Keep in mind that employers and customers may check out your FB profile.

30. When possible, talk to people instead of emailing them.

31. Forgiving others frees you. That affects the energy you communicate.

32. Respond, don’t react to situations. That’s how you create outcomes.

33. If you react by accident, go to the bathroom and pull yourself together.

34. Active listening brings you to the present moment.

35. The first step in preparing a presentation is deciding your purpose.

36. Persuasion only takes place in a context of trust.

37. Writing things down in a journal frees your mind to think new thoughts.

38. If a speaker refers to a famous person, the speaker is (probably) trying to borrow credibility from that person.

39. Executives spend more time talking than listening…according to the research.

40. Executives say they spend more time listening than talking.

41. The average American worker receives 200 emails a day.

42. The best day to release bad news to the press is Saturday.

43. The best day to report good news to the press is Monday.

44. A sound-bite lasts 9 to 14 seconds.

45. People make lasting judgments about you within 30 seconds of meeting you.

46. Send hand-written thank-you notes, not emailed ones.

47. Avoid bullet points in your Power Point presentations.

48. Use photos instead of so much text in your Power Point presentations.

49. The first electronic communication medium was the telegraph.

50. Make sure your handshake is firm, not too limp, not too strong.

51. No perfume on a job interview.

52. Learn to disagree without being disagreeable.

53. Saying affirmations (the truth in advance) can shorten the time you spend feeling down.

54. When you have a spare minute, work on and practice your 30-second elevator pitch.

55. News programming is a form of entertainment.
